It’s not unusual to feel a bit of the January blues but not for us as a flurry of activity saw us deliver The Pavelka Revolution site to allow fans of Jessie Pavelka’s hugely popular health revolution sign up to workshops to help kick their new year off on the right foot. We’re proud to be part of an initiative that does so much good for the lives of others.
Feburary saw us launching an exciting website redesign for one of our oldest clients, Bigatmo. Having designed their website over two years previously, it was time to refresh the design, update the platform and take full advantage of responsive design to optimise the site fully for mobiles, tablets and desktops.
One of our guiding principles is that we’re not afraid to make our own luck – seeking and capturing opportunities that solve one problem for many people. In March, we created a company called Blockify – offering developers an ever-expanding library of ready-made blocks of website code, freeing up time spent on repetitive tasks to allow greater focus on creativity and customisation. It’s going great guns so far – watch this space!
Just a couple of months after The Pavelka Revolution site went live, April saw the launch of the full Pavelka House site – a scalable, fully optimised interactive membership community to support people who want to live life more healthily. We created custom features that enable members to create exercise routines, plan meals, keep an online journal, access exclusive content and interact with other members. Two further sites went live in April – innovative International Educator Search and slick and eyecatching Maidstone TV Studios.
May was a particularly special month in a memorable year for co-founders Aaron and Helen, who as well as being successful business partners, added to their happiness by getting married and becoming partners in life. There was even time to fit in the launch of Geerings’ Horticultural Packaging site!
With summer in full swing, the budding 6-2 team flourished with the arrival of new project managers Jeremy and Kathryn in June, bringing new skills into the mix including digital animation and marketing and communications. Boutique site Private Wealth Search also made its debut in the world.
Project manager and certified Scrum Master Jeremy introduced us to the agile methodology called Scrum in July. It is particularly useful for web design and development and gives us the ability to gain early feedback and make modifications before time and budget are consumed. It also means that we focus on increasing the quality of key features and avoid wasting time developing unnecessary features.
We spent time in August redesigning our own website to better reflect our journey, our experience and the services we offer to help other businesses realise their ambitions. We’re thrilled with how well it’s performing and with the great feedback we’ve had since.
6-2 design turned four in September. We’ve come a long way in a very short time since humble beginnings in Helen and Aaron’s home office. That’s not to say we know it all or have made it yet. Growing a business isn’t easy, and from time to time we will make mistakes but we will never stop learning, never stop improving and never stop striving.
With this spirit in mind, we posted our first blog in October – putting our voice into a familiar realm in a new way so we can connect with like minded people. Later in the month, we immersed ourselves in a brilliant day of talks at the first Digibury Weekender that considered the wider impact that technology has on society and culture and led to some inspiring, thought provoking, funny and downright bizarre discussions. The Kent Dark Chocolate Company flowed smoothly into digital life while INSPIRING was fast out of the gate with a launch party to showcase their new website to clients.
The cold and dark of November didn’t quell our creative fire as we gathered with other web folk for a codeHarbour Hack Day to create an app from scratch. From creating the brand to designing interfaces, building the backend and everything in between. It was great to get creative and work with our peers, all whetted down with a few beers.
This brings us back full circle to December and into our penultimate working week before the Christmas break. We’ve just gone live with Geerings’ Hotels site. Helen and Aaron have raised a festive toast with The Business Improvement and Growth (BIG) Journey folks who have provided so much invaluable guidance, and there will be a few more sore heads after our Christmas party this week no doubt! It’s been an incredible year for 6-2 design and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients, friends and partners for your continued support and wish you a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
